Fanning The Flame!

Paul's letter to Timothy provides powerful insight into rekindling our spiritual gifts when they seem to have grown cold. The Greek word for stir up literally means to fan a flame or rekindle a fire, suggesting that our spiritual gifts aren't absent but may need to be awakened and energized. Just as embers can remain hot for days and burst into flame when stirred, the gifts God has placed within us remain available even when they seem dormant.We need to fan the flame for several important reasons. First, to honor those who invested in us spiritually, whether family members or mentors who poured into our lives. Second, to unleash the power we already possess rather than constantly asking God for something new when He has already equipped us with the answer. Many believers possess gifts they don't even recognize, which may have been present for years but went unnoticed. Third, we must overcome fear and timidity, as fear is often the primary obstacle preventing us from operating in our gifts.The practical steps to fan the flame include embracing our holy calling, recognizing that God has called us with a purpose according to His grace. We must hold fast to sound teaching, protecting and cultivating God's Word in our lives like a precious seed. Finally, we need to depend on the Holy Spirit's power, partnering with Him in every area of life. Our gifts aren't primarily for church settings but are meant to be used in everyday interactions with people who need to encounter God's love and power.
