Family Foundations Part 4

Your home should be a place you eagerly anticipate returning to—a sanctuary where genuine peace exists with the people you love most. Yet many families experience stress and conflict rather than rest and comfort. The spiritual atmosphere in our homes either enables growth and breakthrough or creates wounds of fear and anger that shape our children's futures. In the spiritual realm, two princes compete for influence over our homes. Satan, the prince of the power of the air, controls the world's atmosphere of fear, anxiety, and chaos. Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, offers a different reality—His peace that surpasses understanding. As believers spiritually seated with Christ in heavenly places, we can receive orders from heaven's headquarters and allow the climate of heaven to manifest in our earthly homes. The key is choosing to be a thermostat rather than a thermometer. A thermometer simply registers the existing temperature, but a thermostat sets and controls it. Through practical strategies like soft answers that turn away wrath, creating order instead of confusion, implementing tech-free family meals, cultivating gratitude, and maintaining an atmosphere of forgiveness, we can actively build peace in our homes. This requires having peace with God first through faith in Jesus Christ, which then enables us to experience God's peace and become effective peacemakers in our families and communities.
