Romans 6:12-14
Living the Yielded Life

Living a yielded life begins with understanding that everyone is surrendering to someone or something daily - the crucial question is whether we're yielding to God's authority or to other influences. The biblical concept of yielding, from the Greek word 'paristemi,' encompasses both surrendering authority like a soldier laying down his sword and producing fruit like a farmer's harvest. Romans 6:12-14 establishes that we cannot yield the spiritual fruit God desires until we first completely surrender to His ultimate authority.

True surrender involves recognizing Jesus as Lord - not just Savior, but as the sovereign owner and possessor of our lives who has the right to direct our steps. This means learning to follow the Holy Spirit's leading, dying daily to our own desires and impulses, and trusting God's timing even when we cannot see His work. Like a grain of wheat that must die to produce a harvest, certain things in our lives must be buried before God's solutions can manifest.

The pathway to experiencing God's power involves three key elements: resisting the right enemy (the devil, not God), resting in His finished work rather than trying to earn righteousness through our efforts, and receiving His grace that empowers us to live according to His will. When we learn to wait on the Lord rather than simply waiting for circumstances to change, we position ourselves for the abundant life He has planned, trusting that His timing is perfect even when we cannot understand His methods.
