Proverbs 3:5-6
Navigating Life

Life presents us with countless decisions, but three stand above all others in significance: who will you serve as life's master, who will you marry as life's mate, and how will you use your life as your mission. These monumental choices require divine guidance beyond human wisdom, much like Solomon who asked God for understanding to discern between good and evil. The foundation for godly decision-making rests in Proverbs 3:5-6, which teaches us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts, avoid leaning solely on our own understanding, and acknowledge God in all our ways. When we follow these principles, God promises to direct our paths as a loving Father who wants us to know His will even more than we desire to know it.Six biblical tests provide a framework for navigating life's important choices. The Lamp Test asks whether your decision aligns with Scripture, as God's Word serves as both immediate guidance and long-term direction. The Guide Test involves listening for the Holy Spirit's promptings and holy hunches that alert you to God's leading. The Umpire Test evaluates whether you have God's peace about the decision, as His peace acts as a referee calling you in or out of bounds. The Counsel Test seeks wisdom from mature believers who can share insights from their own spiritual journey. The Faith Test requires willingness to step out without 100% certainty, trusting God to do what you cannot. Finally, the Timing Test considers whether this is God's season for action, recognizing that even right decisions can be premature. When all these lights line up like navigation beacons guiding a ship to harbor, you can move forward confidently knowing God will direct your path.
