Jehoiachin, though imprisoned in Babylon for 37 years, was eventually released and honored by a new Babylonian king. Archaeological discoveries have confirmed this biblical account through ancient cuneiform tablets that served as ration receipts for the exiled king.The promise found its ultimate fulfillment in Jesus Christ, whose genealogy Matthew carefully traces back to David through this preserved lineage. The angel Gabriel's announcement to Mary specifically referenced this ancient covenant, declaring that Jesus would receive the throne of His father David and reign forever.
