The following blog is a summary of a message preached by Pastor Eddie Lawrence.

Fear has a way of showing up at the most crucial moments in our lives. Just when God is calling us to step into something bigger, fear whispers lies that can derail our destiny. Understanding how to overcome fear is essential for walking in the fullness of what God has planned for us.
When you're needing a miracle, breakthrough, or answer to prayer, you'll often have to use your faith to overcome the fear that confronts you. This battle is particularly intense during life's major transitions and decisions - choosing your life's master (who you'll serve), your mission (what you'll do), and your mate (who you'll marry).
The enemy doesn't want you walking in your God-given destiny. When God begins revealing His plans and you know you need to take a step of faith, resistance comes from three directions:
The book of Numbers gives us one of the clearest examples of how fear can alter the course of not just one person's life, but an entire nation. After God delivered Israel from Egypt, He led them to the Promised Land. Twelve spies were sent to scout the territory.
When the spies returned, two very different reports emerged:
Caleb's faith-filled response: "Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it."
The ten spies' fear-filled response: "We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we... we were like grasshoppers in our own sight."
The congregation chose to believe the fear report. They wept, complained against Moses and Aaron, and even wanted to return to Egypt. When Joshua and Caleb tried to encourage them with faith, the people wanted to stone them.
This breach of trust had severe consequences. An entire generation died in the wilderness because they chose fear over faith. Only Joshua and Caleb, along with the next generation, eventually entered the Promised Land.
Fear is a false prophet that tries to stop you from even starting. The giants in the Promised Land were real - the fortified cities, weapons, and armies were actual threats. But fear prophesied defeat before the battle even began.
The problem isn't pretending fearful things don't exist. It's making sure you know by faith that God is there and greater than any obstacle.
Fear will always magnify your problems while minimizing your God. The ten spies focused entirely on the giants, saying "we were like grasshoppers in our own sight." Where was God in their equation? Nowhere - and that was the problem.
When you focus on giants, fear fills your mind with paralyzing questions:
Fear tries to redefine your identity. The spies shifted an entire nation's identity from "God's chosen people" to "grasshoppers." But you are who God says you are - children of the Most High God, overcomers, more than conquerors, the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
As a believer, you've already been saved from eternal separation from God. You were lost and undone, but now you're born again, sealed by the Holy Spirit, with access to God's throne room 24/7. When facing impossible situations, remember what God has already done.
Romans 8:31-32 reminds us: "If God be for you, who can be against you? If God spared not his only son, but freely gave him up for you, will he not also with him freely give you all things?" The Lord loves you, and if He's leading you somewhere, it's the best thing for you.
When God leads you, you'll never beat Him there. He's already working in ways you can't see. Joshua and Caleb understood this when they said, "their protection has departed from them." God had already been preparing the way.
God promises over 360 times in Scripture, "Don't be afraid." He also promises, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." You're not facing your challenges alone - you have the friend who sticks closer than a brother.
The Holy Spirit doesn't just accompany you - He lives within you. You are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Sometimes you feel His manifest presence, but even when you don't, He's still there by faith.
This life isn't all there is. Whether through the Second Coming or through death, you will be with Him. The difficulties you face now are temporary, but what awaits you in His presence is beyond imagination.
This week, identify one area where fear has been holding you back from what you believe God is calling you to do. Instead of focusing on the "giants" in your situation, practice the seven keys to overcome fear. Write down who God says you are, what He's already done for you, and remind yourself daily that He is for you, with you, in you, and coming for you.
